Car and train collision injured five teens

Five teenagers were en route to Brillion High School when they were involved in a car and locomotive collision on April 22.

Officials say that a 16-year-old driver was heading northbound on East River Road when it struck the engine of a an 11-car train. After the impact of the crash, fueled was spilled from the locomotive’s engine which caused the Fire Deparment’s Hazardous Material unit to respond to the scene to clean up.

Five of the people in the car were seriously injured and transported to the hospital for medical attention. Four of the occupants were brothers. All of the occupants are still in the hospital and three are currently in serious condition and one in critical condition. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
