Over 200 pounds of smoked trout and salmon spreads recalled

Rushing Waters Fisheries of Palmyra has announced the recall of 225 pounds of smoked trout and salmon spreads after finding out that they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The contamination was found through a routine inspection by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. No illnesses have been reported at this time, but the recall was announced as a precaution.

For healthy adults Listeria monocytogenes contamination may just be flulike symptoms, but it may cause serious complications in pregnant women, children, elderly and people with compromised immune systems. Consumers should dispose of the spreads or return it to the place that it was purchased.
