Five injured in hot air balloon accident at fundraising event

Five people were injured after a hot air balloon accident occurred at a fundraising event for Green Valley Enterprises on Saturday.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department, the balloon landed on the ground just around 5:30 p.m. when a large gust of wind knocked it over and caused it to roll across the ground.

The balloon was tethered to a truck and to two trees, but the rope that was attached to the truck snapped in the wind. The sole passenger in the balloon along with four spectators were injured in the event. The Federal Aviation Association has been notified at this time and is expected to conduct an investigation.
