Car crashes involving deers increase in Wisconsin

Fatal crashes involving deer nearly doubled last year in Wisconsin and officials have said that this year they are also expecting an increase.

In 2010, there were 14 people killed in collision involving a deer. Across the state, the number of crashes involved deer in 2009 was at 16,338 and in 2010, it increased to 16,947.

The highest number of crashes in Wisconsin occur between October and November, which is the deer mating season. The second time during the year when a spike in deer-related accidents occurs is when the fawn leave the mother deer in May.
