Memorial Day weekend traffic in Wisconsin

Severe traffic congestion is expected over the holiday weekend in the state of Wisconsin. Drivers are urged to pay attention while on the road in order to avoid collisions.

There will be work zones in several cities, and drivers need to make sure they are not following too closely to other drivers, because rear-end collisions are the most common type of accident in these areas. Since heavy traffic is predicted, people should allow ample time in order to get to their destination.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation states that traffic fatalities are more common over this weekend as compared to non-holiday weekends. Last year, there were seven deaths caused by traffic accidents over Memorial Day weekend.

There will be more than 400 law enforcement departments throughout the state adding additional patrol officers for Memorial Day weekend in order to prevent these accidents.
