Milwaukee police officer critically injured in car accident

A 23-year-old wrong-way driver on Interstate 94 crashed head-on into an off-duty police officer, critically injuring him. The accident unfolded on September 5 in the eastbound lanes of I-94.

Once the careless driver crashed into the Milwaukee police officer, both drivers became stuck in their vehicles. Once they were extracted from their cars they were transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

The reckless driver received citations for driving the wrong way, reckless driving and endangerment, and driving while intoxicated. The accident resulted in the eastbound lanes of the highway being closed for roughly four hours while an investigation was conducted.
