A 29-year-old Vilas Deputy was killed in a car accident while responding to anther officer’s request for assistance.
A Wisconsin State Trooper testified during a bail hearing that the officer’s car hit the rear of a pickup truck driven by a 49-year-old man. The trooper testified that the pickup truck had a dump box filled with manure in the bed of the truck. The man appeared to be taking the manure from one side of the road and dropping it off on a driveway on the other side of the road. The man allegedly pulled out right in front of the deputy’s squad car.
The deputy was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the pickup truck was arrested for suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
