Train and truck collide and injure one person

A 61-year-old man was injured after a train and truck collided in Whitehall.

The man was driving a Tri-County Sanitation truck on U.S. Highway 53 when it collided with an eastbound train. Witnesses have said that the crossing signals were activated and the conductor blew the whistle prior to the collision.

The accident remains under investigation at this time. The roadway was closed after the accident because the train was blocking the roadway. The victim was transported to the hospital and the extent of his injuries are unknown at this point.
