Pfizer has announced a recall of more that one million packs of birth control when it was found that there was a packaging issue that could result in an unwanted pregnancy for women taking it.
A pack of this birth control is supposed to contain 21 hormone pills and seven sugar tablets, but the the defective packets had either too few or too many hormone pills.
The recalled product, Lo/Ovral-28 tablets also has generic versions, Ethinyl Estradiol and Norgestrel and 14 lots of each have been recalled. A spokesperson for the company has stated that the error with the birth control pill was “mechanical and a visual inspection” mistake.
