Within two days, Kia has announced two separate motor vehicle recalls for two different models and problems. The initial recall affected the Kia Rios, and involved an airbag defect. In total, 73,000 Rio models were recalled for this problem.
The second recall came just one day later, and involves the Borrego SUV models. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released information regarding the recall, and stated that fragile brake pedals are the problem behind the national recall.
According to the reports, the brake pedals in the 2009 models are not sturdy enough to withstand potential impact. Therefore, a driver would have to use the emergency parking brake in the vehicle in order to keep from continuing forward in the vehicle. Kia has announced that they will fix this problem free of charge.
