Due to the overwhelming number of product recalls that occur in the United States, regulators and retailers have noticed that citizens have stopped intently paying attention to the defective product recall lists.
Data from the FDA, the Consumer Products Safety Commission, and the Department of Agriculture show that last year, there were 2,363 recalls announced throughout the country. This means that each day there are approximately 6.5 products being recalled, from food products to pharmaceutical products.
Regulators are battling with questions regarding consumer safety surrounding the multiple recalls. They are questioning whether consumers are becoming inundated with these recalls, and if the announced recalls are even reaching all of the consumers. The way the recall announcements are being distributed to the public may soon be changing, and adding additional outlets.
