Two people were severely injured after they were thrown from their motorcycle in the Township of Genoa on the afternoon of April 20.
According to Sheriff John B. Spears, the accident happened at around 5 p.m. on County Highway K when the motorcycle driven by Jose Manuel Leon, 48, failed to negotiate around a corner. Leon and passenger Jacqueline J. Helgeson, 44, both flew off the motorcycle after it slid out of control. Witnesses to the accident provided help, as the motorcycle had pinned down Helgeson’s upper body. Leon and Helgeson were both transported to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital due to the serious injuries they sustained.
Initial findings report that both victims were not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
Fortunately, no one else was injured in this accident; however, motorcyclists and other motorists who drive recklessly all too often cause innocent people serious harm in accidents.
