The attempt to raise up and two the ill-fated Costa Concordia cruise ship that killed 32 people on January 2012 after it crashed in Giglio Island began on Monday, September 16.
Intricate mechanisms were used by engineers to salvage the shipwreck at around 9AM. According to engineer Sergio Girotto, the hull of the ship was already pulled by midday and there were still no signs of the two missing bodies of the 32 deaths reported. The cruise ship crashed to the coastline of Giglio on January 13, 2012 where 32 people were found dead inside the ship after it capsized and thousands of passengers and crews were either saved by helicopters or swam to the shore.
